Some consider Benjamin Christensen’s 1922 film Häxan to be the first documentary as it incorporates historical information pertaining to medieval paganism into its overall narrative. The film is nothing short of groundbreaking for its time, and even today the imagery can be shocking, disturbing, and at times darkly humorous.
Presented on 16mm, this version, subtitled Witchcraft Through the Ages, is a shorter version with an all new soundtrack featuring narration, and music by Nine Inch Nails.
