Window installation: July 2 – 30, 2014…
A short program of S8/16mm film (DVT) and video–
includes the new film, “108,” influenced by Maya Deren’s “Meditation on Violence.”
Krogstad addresses concepts of transience and the encounter. Situations are proposed in which we may see ourselves and the spaces we occupy in new ways. The in-between spaces, the oneiric, and notions relating to identity, help to inform the work.
Krogstad is currently an Artist in Residence at Kala Art Institute, and was a recent Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts. She is a San Francisco based multi-media artist working in installation/environments, sculpture, film, video, audio, photography.
“For one cannot even really see one’s own exterior and comprehend it as a whole, and no mirrors or photographs can help; our real exterior can be seen and understood only by other people, because they are located outside us in space and because they are others. In the realm of culture, outsideness is a most powerful factor in understanding…”- M. M. Bakhtin
