Anthropological cinema

San Francisco State Universities Visual Anthropology Program, under the guidance of Cade Bursell and Peter Biella, presents 8 student ethnographic videos. After nine months of fieldwork, research, and production, SFSU’s cinema and anthropology student collaborations have produced a series of 15 minute videos focusing on topics of : Tibetan youth in the Bay Area, migrant motherhood and paid childcare, transgender issues, SFO airport screeners, Mexican farm workers in Napa Valley, a portrait of a Death Valley father/son mining team, drum circles and surrounding culture, and a portrait of a Palestinian- American woman. Discussion will follow and all videomakers will be present.

The presenting filmmakers are : Adam Fuhrman, Clare Bakota, Nicole Lucchesi, Danielle Muldoon, Suzanne La, Ryan White, Jacob Walker, Peter Orth, Shay Cannedy, Mindy Gross, Justin Dubois, Henry Ramos Jr., Harjant Gill, and Jesse Cortez.
